The location was nice, within a close distance from a monumental 1200s cathedral. Moreover, it's so close to the old town of Matera, a luxurious cave in the Palazotto, and the historical Sassi.
Shame the bathroom was very small.

We had a fantastic stay at a unique residence just outside the city center, surrounded by historic beauty. The room was incredibly spacious, with modern facilities and a comfortable bed. The bathroom had a luxurious rain shower, and there were USB ports available for charging our devices. The staff were welcoming and attentive, offering helpful advice throughout our stay. The breakfast spread was extensive, with a variety of sweet and savory options to choose from. We also enjoyed the breathtaking view of the city from the large, common area just outside our cave room.

The value for money at Palazzotto Residence&Winery was excellent. The rooms were unique with their cave design, and the location was perfect, surrounded by charming restaurants. The staff treated me so well, especially Aurora at the Front Desk who helped me plan a marriage proposal in the room. This is definitely the place to stay in Matera.
For the breakfast option, it would have been nice to have some hot dishes available.

The rooms were impressive and inviting, included a safe box, a minibar and central heating. Location: the hotel was near the Sassi and centre, Sasso Barisano, and atmospheric candlelit cave.

I had a truly unique experience staying at a boutique hotel in Matera. The room was built into a natural grotto, which made it feel like I was staying in a cave. The attention to detail in the design was amazing, and I loved how each room respected the natural surroundings. The staff were welcoming and friendly, creating a warm atmosphere. Breakfast was served in a shared table where guests could share their travel stories. this hotel is perfect for those seeking an out-of-the-ordinary stay.
One thing to note is that the showers in the cave rooms are open, and the water falls on the stone floor, making the room quite humid. Additionally, there were some issues with mildew in the walls, which could be problematic for those with allergies.
